I recently have invested in many paper punches in all shapes and sizes- large circles, small circles, scalloped circles- basically any kind of circle that your heart could desire. About once a week, I look at the Brit + Co post on 25 ways to add confetti to your party, and try to figure out ways to add more confetti to my OWN life (literally, as well as metaphorically, of course).
One place where confetti is absolutely appropriate? During a wedding recession! Unfortunately, since Rosie and Doug are getting married at his father’s vineyard, they may not have appreciated having to go around and clean up the piles of scalloped tissue paper confetti that I would have loved to punch. Our mother suggested tossing bird seed- an idea that was quickly rejected, sorry Momma. Pondering other biodegradable toss ideas, we settled on using dried lavender.
To hold the lavender, I dip dyed small canvas sachets with everyone’s favorite Rit dye. I followed the tutorial from Oh Happy Day. Since I am not going to be reusing these bags, I didn’t worry about running them through a wash cycle, because sometimes laziness just has to triumph.
Please, no one pelt Rosie and Doug too hard with the contents of your sachet. Remember, that is how Daisy, the founder of the Girl Scouts, went deaf. I know I will never forget. On that note, cheers, and have a happy weekend!
