Blood Orange Margaritas

Blood Orange Margaritas

Maybe it is only because I have been looking at too many Society Social pictures, but I have recently been obsessed with the idea of stocking up my bar cart. I ordered a cocktail shaker on Amazon to get to a $25 shopping cart so I could get more hot glue sticks as an add-on item, and have since been dying to try out all of the cocktail recipes I have been pinning.

Recently, a girlfriend and I stayed in one Friday to test out cocktail recipes, and although we didn’t wind up using my shaker for anything, the blood orange margaritas that we wound up making were absolutely worth the sore arms that we had squeezing citrus.

Ingredients:
750 ml bottle of reposado tequila
1 cup orange liqueur
1 1/2 cups lime juice
1 cup simple syrup (combine equal parts sugar and water)
3 cups blood orange juice
2 cups sparkling water

These were even a little strong for my taste- but that also could have had something to do with the cheap tequila we used- so we added some sparking limeade from Trader Joe’s. Kick back with a friend or two, toast to the end of the week, and enjoy!

PS- how great do they look against my new jazzed up tray and napkins?
