DIY Paper Straw Flags

The other weekend, it seemed like every blogger on my Instagram feed was both A) throwing an Oscars party, and B) had custom paper straws for the event. I also had some pretty great handmade straw flags for the bloody mary bar at Rosie’s shower. To make your own, buy a batch of straws (I got mine at Michaels) and then use colored, printed scrapbook paper to cut out flags about five inches in width. Make sure that you secure it with permanent double sided tape- you don’t want these slipping off into your guests’ cocktails! To give them some additional flare for our couple in the spotlight, I used separate letter stamps to write an “r” and a “d.” After stamping “dr” on the first one, I immediately decided that it was preferable to look like “research and development” than “doctor.”

Have you made your own straw flags for a party? If so, put the link in the comments. I had initially wanted to do a batch of different pictures of our happy couple, but when it came to crunch time, decided to go the less ambitious route.
